The Brown University Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applications are accepted from graduates of approved medical schools exclusively through the AAMC Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). MD and DO graduates from US medical schools register for ERAS through their Dean’s Office.
All interviews at Brown will be virtual for the 2026-27 recruitment season. We work with information from NRMP, ERAS, and national associations of program directors, as well as our own institution, to maintain a recruitment plan that reflects the need for a safe and equitable recruitment process.
We review all applications holistically; we do not require Step 2 scores for initial review of applications.
Last, please note that Medicine-Pediatrics as a specialty is not participating in supplemental applications or signaling for the 2026-27 recruitment season.

We ask applicants to submit four letters of recommendation (LORs) in addition to their Dean’s letter. Applicants should submit at least one LOR from Pediatrics and at least one LOR from Internal Medicine (options include a letter from the department chair, department or clerkship director, or other faculty you’ve worked with in the specialty).
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) serves as the designated Dean’s Office for all IMGs, including USIMGs. Please be advised that our program is not able to support H-1 visas. US clinical experience is strongly recommended.
Nationally, program directors are trying to ensure careful, holistic reviews of applications, offer clear information on timing, and reducing disruptions to students’ clinical activities. To this end, we commit to sending interview invitations no sooner than October 5th, 2026, to release interview invitations at the end of work days, and will only offer invitations equal to the number of available interview spots.
Virtual interviews will be held on Mondays from November 2026 through January 2027.
For the 2026-26 interview season, we strive to provide an interview experience that gives you a chance to interact virtually with residents, faculty, and staff, to experience our clinic, hospitals, and learning environments, and to get to know Providence and our community.
Our interview day starts at 7:45am and lasts until approximately 2:30pm EST; we anticipate offering a later start and finish time on our last interview date in January 2027 to accommodate applicants from other time zones.
Pre-interview virtual social events with our residents will be held on Sundays from 6 to 8pm the evening prior to interview days.
An email confirming your interview date will be sent to you before your interview day.
