Medicine-Pediatrics Primary Care Center

The Medicine-Pediatrics Primary Care Center (MPPCC) was founded in 1998 as a dedicated ambulatory continuity experience for the Med-Peds Residency Program. The clinic is a NCQA-Level III Patient-Centered Medical Home, offering comprehensive primary care including preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute care for patients of all ages. MPPCC is staffed exclusively by Med-Peds core faculty and residents. Dedicated on-site staff include nursing, clinical pharmacists, clinical psychologists, social work, and referral coordinator. MPPCC co-locates services for pediatric cancer survivorship, resettled refugee intake, HIV care, and long-acting contraception. 

Rhode Island Hospital

Rhode Island Hospital (RIH) is the principal teaching hospital of The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. A not-for-profit acute care hospital, RIH was founded to provide care for low-income patients. Today it is the largest hospital in the state, housing over 700 hospital beds, and serves a catchment area from Boston to New Haven. It is the only Level 1 Trauma Center for southeastern New England, and its emergency department is one of the busiest units in the northeast. RIH is a founding partner of Brown University Health, a comprehensive health system providing accessible, high-value services to the people of Rhode Island and southeastern New England. 

Rotations for Med-Peds residents: MICU, CCU, general medicine wards, general medicine consults, neurology wards, ED, and multiple subspecialty electives

Hasbro Children's

Hasbro Children's is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital. A Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Hasbro Children’s is the only pediatric emergency department in southeastern New England. It houses over 80 hospital beds and a 16-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and recently underwent major state-of-the-art renovations. It averages approximately 6,500 inpatient visits and 70,000 outpatient visits per year. The Hasbro Partial Hospital Program is unique in the region as the only day-treatment program that treats children with both medical and emotional issues.

Rotations for Med-Peds residents: PICU, general pediatrics wards, ED, urgent care, and multiple subspecialty electives

The Miriam Hospital

The Miriam Hospital (TMH) is a private, not-for-profit hospital and a major teaching affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. As a community hospital, it primarily serves the local Providence area and houses approximately 250 hospital beds. TMH has consistently ranked as one of the premier regional hospitals in the country over the past 15 years. It is one of the very few hospitals in the world to have received the prestigious Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence designation continuously for over 20 years. 

Rotations for Med-Peds residents: MICU, general medicine wards, ED, and multiple subspecialty electives

Women & Infants Hospital

Women & Infants Hospital (WIH) is a Care New England facility and a major teaching affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. WIH delivers approximately 8,500 babies per year, making it one of the largest stand-alone obstetrical services in the country. The NICU underwent complete renovation in 2009, making it the country’s largest single-family-room NICU at the time with over 80 neonatal hospital rooms.
